Warehouse Operative
Based: Evesham, Vale Business Park
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, working alternative shift patterns of 7:30 am to 3:30 pm and 10 am to 6 pm
Outline:
To complete customer deliveries in accordance with the daily despatch schedule by processing and despatching orders in an accurate and timely manner.
To assist in receiving and putting away bulk deliveries from suppliers. To pack product into its finished format ready for sale.
Key responsibilities:
Picking, packing and staging orders ready for delivery
- Following special instructions in relation to an order
Picking and building works orders ready for customer delivery
- Inspecting in compliance with company standards
- Packing in compliance with company standards including labelling and shrink wrapping
- Loading despatch vehicles
- Unload delivery vehicles, palletise safely and put away in bulk locations
Where licensed, to operate a forklift truck / material handling / picking equipment
- Safely and efficiently
- Maintaining appropriate certification
- Turn off & lock out all equipment when not in use
- Performing vehicle safety checks
- Reporting any discrepancies to a supervisor
H&S / Environmental
- Operate within company procedures and safe systems of work
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment
- Move waste to designated disposal areas
- Ensure compliance with manual handling best practice
Other
- Assist in keeping the facility secure
- Attend product knowledge / company awareness meetings as required
- Other duties as reasonable assigned on a day-to-day basis
In addition to the above, you may be required to carry out additional duties, dependent on business needs.
Competencies / Experience:
- Experience of working in a Warehouse environment
- Capable of standing / walking for the duration of an 8 hour shift
- Capable of lifting / carrying / manoeuvring heavy items
- Positive outlook and one who enjoys working as part of a team
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Recognises and understands product numbers and alpha/numeric codes
- Understands basic safety, inventory and warehousing procedures
- Capable of following verbal and written instructions / procedures
- Manages time effectively, has a sense of urgency and can adapt to changing priorities
- Good listener and verbal communicator
Qualifications / additional requirements:
- Experience of working in a Warehouse environment is essential.
- A forklift licence is desirable
