Job Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Kitchen Staff to join our team in our seasonal food van, based directly on the beach in Polzeath. The successful candidates will play a vital role in preparing and serving high-quality food in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for culinary arts, food safety, and customer service to develop their skills within a open kitchen setting. Experience is preferred but not necessary, full training will be given to all successful candidates. The role is for seasonal work only, starting immediately and ceasing in September 2026, with potential for continuation in following seasons. Individuals must be self-employed and send invoices for all work carried out. Pay rate will be dependent on experience and skill, and discussed with candidates during the interview process. Opportunities for pay increase and/or bonuses will be available.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and presentation, ensuring high standards of quality and hygiene
- Support the cooking process by following recipes and instructions from senior kitchen staff
- Interact directly with customers, including taking orders, payments and clearing tables
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of service area, workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
- Serve food efficiently to customers, ensuring excellent customer service
- Support inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages or expiry dates
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe working environment
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, catering, or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Knowledge of food safety standards and basic cooking techniques is advantageous
- Familiarity with meal preparation, food presentation, and kitchen organisation will be beneficial
- Experience in serving customers is a plus but not mandatory; a friendly attitude and willingness to learn are essential
- Candidates should demonstrate good organisational skills, timekeeping, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Pay: £12.50-£14.50 per hour
