Generate has been creating opportunities and offering support to people with a learning disability since 1972. We are committed to improving the lives of people with a learning disability by supporting and encouraging them in a creative way to access opportunities in their communities, take their place as citizens and reduce their reliance on services.
In addition to our youth and community services targeted at people with a learning disability, we also provide an Access to Work service. We work on delivering one-to-one employment support workers and Job Coaching staff across London to individuals with a range of disabilities.
It is funded for in-work support through the Department of Work and Pensions’ Access to Work Programme, although there is scope for this service to expand into other areas of supported employment. It is the largest provider of the programme within London with a wide breadth of scope in terms of location and range of disabilities supported.
Main Purpose of the Job
To support client with disabilities and/or health conditions in their workplace.
About the Role: We are seeking an Employment Support Worker / Personal Assistant to provide professional workplace support for a employee working as a Volunteer Development Officer for Stay Safe East.The role is funded through the Access to Work programe and is designed to enable the employee to carry out their role effectively by providing practical, administrative, organisational, and communication support. The successful candidate will work alongside the employee during meetings, volunteer management activities, administrative tasks, and project work, helping them remain organised, manage competing priorities, and access information effectively.This is a rewarding opportunity to support someone working within a disability-led organisation that promotes the rights, safety, and inclusion of disabled people.
Detailed Responsibilities and Duties
Duties will include but are not limited to: -
- Attend internal and external meetings alongside the client.
- Prepare meeting information, agendas, and supporting documentation.
- Take accurate notes and minutes during meetings.
- Record actions, deadlines, and follow-up tasks.
- Support diary management, scheduling, and organisation of meetings.
- Assist with communication tasks, including drafting emails and correspondence.
- Help organise volunteer information, rotas, and related documentation.
- Support preparation for volunteer meetings, check-ins, and training activities.
- Assist with administrative tasks including filing, document management, and maintaining records.
- Support the client to prioritise tasks and manage workloads.
- Provide practical support during busy or high-pressure periods.
- Assist with organising digital files, calendars, and deadline tracking systems.
- Accompany the client to meetings and work-related activities where required.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
