Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Freelance Early Years Forest School Leader to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to lead outdoor learning sessions for young children in natural settings, fostering their development through engaging, nature-based activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, along with a genuine love for working with children. This position is suitable for individuals with a background in childcare, nursery experience, or early childhood education who are eager to inspire and nurture young learners in an outdoor environment. Flexibility and excellent communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to drive to various locations.
The successful candidate will require;
- Enhanced DBS
- Early years qualification level 3 (or equivalent)
- Forest School Leader Level 3
- Personal business insurance

Duties
- Consistently plan and deliver engaging outdoor learning activities aligned with early childhood development principles.
- Lead groups of children through forest school sessions, ensuring safety and enjoyment at all times.
- Manage the organisation of outdoor resources and equipment for each session.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and respect for nature.
- Communicate effectively with carers, and team members regarding children's progress and session updates.
- Ensure health and safety protocols are strictly followed during all activities, including the completion of termly and daily risk assessments.
Experience
- Proven leadership experience within early childhood education or childcare settings.
- Demonstrable experience working directly with children, particularly in outdoor or forest school environments.
- Nursery experience or background in early childhood development is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Valid driving licence and ability to travel between different outdoor locations as required.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to outdoor education and childcare.
- Passion for nature-based learning and commitment to fostering positive outdoor experiences for young children.
