Assistant Management Accountant
An established and growing organisation is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join its Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to develop their management accounting experience within a complex, multi-entity environment. The successful candidate will support financial reporting, month-end processes, business performance analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.
The Role
As Assistant Management Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information to support business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts.

Produce variance analysis and support the reconciliation of accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet accounts.

Prepare and maintain month-end balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.

Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring reporting deadlines are met.

Review financial transactions and maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records.

Perform bank, cash, and intercompany reconciliations.

Assist with cashflow reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities.

Prepare financial and operational performance reports, including KPI analysis.

Support the production of reporting packs and management information for senior stakeholders.

Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation for external auditors.

Support compliance and statutory reporting requirements.

Contribute to finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.

Support the implementation and optimisation of finance systems and reporting tools.

Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to provide financial support and insight.

Assist colleagues across the finance function during peak periods to ensure team objectives and deadlines are achieved.

Ensure all financial information is prepared accurately, consistently, and in line with internal controls and company policies.
About You
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Previous experience in a management accounting or assistant management accounting role.

Experience supporting month-end reporting and financial analysis.

AAT Level 4 qualified, part-qualified accountant, or qualified by experience.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.

Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
