Overview
The Fintry Trust is an educational charity. This is an ad hoc post as Kitchen Assistant working in our retreat house, supporting our two permanent cooks chiefly with washing-up, but also with some food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring food safety standards are upheld. Shifts are 2-3 hours, lunch and/or supper. This is a small friendly staff.
Because of the occasional nature of the work and the location, you need to live quite local to Fintry, and be able to drive yourself to work.
Pay is £11 ph (aged 18-21) or £13 (aged 21 years and over)
Responsibilities
Assist with some food preparation by chopping, peeling, and assembling ingredients to support cooks, and serving.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen workstations, utensils, and equipment in accordance with food safety regulations.
Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and hygiene standards are met at all times.
Participate in routine cleaning tasks such as dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and waste disposal to keep the kitchen environment safe and sanitary.
Qualifications
Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is preferred but not required.
Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety practices.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks.
A positive attitude with a passion for food service and culinary arts is highly valued.
Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
