Join a Team That Actually Looks After Its Engineers
FOAC is growing, and we’re looking to build a reliable team of experienced self-employed air conditioning engineers to work with us on an ongoing basis.
We’re not looking for subcontractors just to fill the occasional gap.
We want to build relationships with good engineers who can become a regular part of the FOAC team, take ownership of their own allocated projects and work alongside our employed engineers when larger installations require a bigger team.
Some days you could be given a residential installation to deliver independently from start to finish. Other days you might be working alongside two or three of our engineers on a larger commercial project.
You need to be comfortable doing both.
We’ve built FOAC around high engineering standards, clean installations, looking after our customers and creating a team people genuinely enjoy being part of.
We work hard and expect a high standard, but we look after the people doing it.
Lunch is on us every working day.
If you’re out working for FOAC, we’ll cover your lunch. It’s a small thing, but it reflects the culture we’re trying to build.
We also believe in swings and roundabouts.
Some days everyone needs to push to get an installation finished and handed over properly. Equally, we don’t believe in clock-watching for the sake of it.
If you’re reliable, produce good work and take ownership of the job, you’ll get the same trust and respect in return.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll work across residential and commercial projects throughout Hampshire & the South Coast.
Depending on the project, you could be working independently on an installation allocated directly to you or joining the wider FOAC engineering team on larger projects.
Typical work includes:
- Taking ownership of allocated installations from start to finish
- Installing split & multi-split air conditioning systems
- Residential & commercial installations
- Working independently on suitable projects
- Working alongside FOAC engineers on larger installations
- Commissioning & handing over completed systems
- Reading drawings, wiring diagrams & schematics
- Identifying and resolving installation issues on site
- Servicing & fault-finding when required
- Keeping installations clean, tidy & properly presented
- Communicating professionally with customers
- Representing FOAC to the standard our customers expect
We care about the details.
Pipework, containment, condensate, positioning and the overall presentation of an installation all matter.
If we allocate a project to you, we need to know you can turn up, understand what needs to happen, deliver the installation properly and leave behind something both you and FOAC are proud to put our name to.
The Engineers We’re Looking For
We’re looking for experienced, reliable engineers who are comfortable being trusted to get on with the job.
You need to be equally capable of working independently and as part of a larger installation team, depending on what the project requires.
You’ll ideally have:
- F-Gas Category 1 certification (essential)
- Your own UTR number for invoicing
- Your own tools
- Your own van
- Appropriate public liability insurance
- Strong split & multi-split installation experience
- Confidence delivering installations independently
- Ability to work effectively as part of a larger engineering team
- Ability to read drawings, wiring diagrams & schematics
- Good commissioning knowledge
- Good fault-finding ability
- Experience with MHI, Daikin or similar manufacturers
- Good communication with customers & other engineers
- A clean, professional approach to installation work
- Genuine pride in your workmanship
Refrigeration experience is preferred but not essential.
If you’re a strong air conditioning engineer who wants to develop further into refrigeration or more complex systems, there will be opportunities to learn alongside the team.
What It’s Like Working With FOAC
We don’t want our regular subcontractors to feel like outsiders who only get a phone call when we're desperate for another pair of hands.
The aim is to build a dependable group of subcontract engineers who know our standards, know our team and can work with us regularly as the company grows.
You’ll work alongside engineers who help each other, share knowledge and take pride in producing good work.
We don’t want to micromanage experienced people.
If you’re good at what you do, turn up when you say you will, communicate properly, look after our customers and produce work to the right standard, we’ll trust you to get on with the job.
Likewise, if you’re on a larger project, we expect everyone to work as one team. Nobody is too important to muck in and help get the job over the line.
That’s the culture we want to keep as FOAC grows.
What We Offer
- £200–£300 per day, depending on experience & capability
- Lunch paid for every day you're working with FOAC
- Regular ongoing subcontract opportunities
- A mixture of independent & team-based projects
- Flexibility around your availability
- Varied residential & commercial installations
- Opportunities to work on larger & more complex systems
- Work alongside an experienced & growing engineering team
- Training & development opportunities
- Company events & team activities
- The opportunity to build a long-term working relationship with FOAC
- Potential permanent opportunities if that becomes something both sides are interested in
- A company that recognises when people put the effort in
Where We’re Going
FOAC isn’t trying to stay a small air conditioning company.
We’re building the business for the long term, with ambitious plans for our engineering team, the projects we undertake and the wider Fair Oak Group.
As our workload grows, we want a trusted subcontract team that can grow alongside us.
That means we’re looking for engineers interested in more than picking up the occasional spare day.
We want people we can get to know, trust with our projects and customers, and call regularly because we know the standard of work we’re going to get.
In return, we want FOAC to be the kind of company you genuinely enjoy working with.
Our approach is simple:
Do excellent work. Look after the customer. Look after the team.
If that sounds like the way you like to work, we’d like to hear from you.
