Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Chef to join our culinary team for a busy 4 day week rota. In this role, you will support the kitchen team the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food preparation and presentation. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a commitment to food safety, while also being able to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to established recipes and standards.
- Ensure that all food safety regulations are adhered to, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for dishes.
- Manage inventory levels, ensuring that all necessary ingredients are available for daily operations.
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure quality control of all dishes served.
Skills
- Background in food production and preparation techniques.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse group of individuals.
- Culinary experience with a passion for cooking and hospitality.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations is essential.
- Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.

Do you have:
Qualifications: Relevant industry qualifications. Minimum Level 2 Food Safety, allergen training can be provided.
Experience: A proven track record working within the kitchen.
Skills: Excellent cooking skills, leadership skills, ability to work under pressure, strong knowledge of operational procedures within the food industry.
Communication: Excellent relationship-building and communication skills to liaise effectively with the rest of the team and customers.
Passion: A genuine passion for food quality, service excellence, and operational efficiency.
Flexibility: Willingness to be flexible for holiday cover and pop up evenings.

Baristro is a new contemporary coffee Bar and Bistro with a warm welcome, friendly atmosphere, whilst serving speciality coffees, organic teas, freshly cooked breakfast, brunch and lunch.
We can sit 30people inside and more outside in our dog friendly garden.
