Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and physically fit General Yard Operative to join our scrap yard team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the efficient operation of the yard, handling materials, and maintaining safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in working in a dynamic environment with a focus on heavy lifting and mechanical tasks. Prior experience in a similar setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Duties
- Assisting with the loading and unloading of scrap materials using appropriate equipment
- Moving materials around the yard safely and efficiently
- Operating basic mechanical tools and machinery as required
- Ensuring the yard remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
- Conducting routine inspections of equipment and reporting any faults or issues
- Supporting other team members in daily operations to maintain productivity levels
Qualifications
- Previous experience or knowledge of mechanical systems is desirable but not essential
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Physically fit with the stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong team player with a proactive attitude towards safety and efficiency
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures within a yard environment

Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm. Every alternative Saturday 8am-1pm. Weekly pay.
