Applications are sought for the position of PNCB operator based at Cumbria Police HQ, Penrith.
The successful applicants will need to evidence of being an analytical person and demonstrate effective communication when dealing internal and external agencies.
The position is on a shift pattern, consisting of days and evenings, weekend working on a 5-week pattern which is attached to the advert for reference.
PNC is a national database of information available to all police forces, law enforcement agencies and other specified bodies throughout UK. It is used for facilitating investigations and sharing information of both national and local significance.
As a member of the PNC Bureau, under the supervision of the PNC Manager/PNC Supervisor, you will update, research, administer, audit and control the Police National Computer for the Force, ensuring accurate and effective usage. Respond to DVLA queries on behalf of the force. Tasks carried out in this role are: - Wanted persons – ensure correct procedure is adhered to and correct category for the report is used. Update PNC Detained reports as required, ensuring prompt cancellation of Initial report. Missing Persons – ensure PNC is updated with appropriate information in line with national guidelines for missing persons, absconders from care/hospital etc. Orders and bail conditions – update PNC with all court orders and bail conditions where necessary as demand dictates. Vehicles - Update all stolen/found motor vehicles on to PNC, and any other PNC vehicle report as require by the circumstances i.e. Found reports, removed reports, information reports. Control and audit of all vehicles reports as necessary. Property – update all stolen/found property that complies with the national guideline for inclusion on PNC. Monitor and audit as required. Consult with PNC Hendon Data Centre for queries and faults, and act as DVLA liaison officer for the force. Assist with special operations as an expert PNC operator, and conduct PNC checks for authorised outside agencies i.e. Environment agency.
The new Law Enforcement Data Service (LEDS) will be a highly scalable modern cloud-based data service that will enable the future retirement of the Police National Computer (PNC). PNC has been used by law enforcement organisations across the UK and other non-law enforcement agencies since the 1970s. Training modules will be completed once in post in relation to the switch over from PNC to LEDS
Salary £25,278 – £29,859 plus 14% shift allowance, taking the salary to approximately £28,816 – £34,039. 1 position available currently, another position possible around the time of interviews.
