Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineer or Senior Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure Design team. We are looking for someone who will support the delivery of Highway, earthworks and drainage designs and drawings for a range of private development clients
Key Responsibilities include
Highway Design: Deliver detailed engineering packages, including horizontal and vertical highway alignments, junction geometry, highway drainage and liaison with approving authorities.
Regulatory Approvals: Prepare and submit technical drawings for legal agreements under the Highway Act 1980 (Section 38 for new roads; Section 278 for existing network improvements) and the Water Industry Act 1991 (Section 104 for sewer adoption).
Collaboration: Liaise with clients, architects, local authorities, and third-party stakeholders to secure technical approvals and resolve site-specific issues. Support senior engineers in delivering projects to time and budget.
Essential Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Proven experience in designing roads to local authority standards, including Section 38 (new roads) and Section 278 (works to existing highways) agreements.
- Good experience of highway design using the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB)
- Very good skills in using Civil 3D for highway and earthworks design.
- Good experience of using with drainage design tools such as Causeway Flow or InfoDrainage.
- Strong technical writing skills and the ability to explain complex engineering solutions to non-technical clients or stakeholders.
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and willing to learn.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working for a design consultancy
Desirable requirements
- Working towards or interested in obtaining CEng or IEng qualifications
