Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Workers to provide high-quality support and assistance to individuals in various care settings, including domiciliary care, assisted living and home care environments. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting independence, dignity, and well-being for clients with diverse needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's, and hospice care. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through personalised care and support.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility to promote independence.
- Provide specialised care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, or other cognitive impairments, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Administer medication following prescribed instructions and maintain accurate records of medication administration.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and assist with feeding if necessary.
- Support clients with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Offer emotional support and companionship to enhance clients’ mental well-being.
- Drive clients to appointments or social activities as required, ensuring safe transportation.
- Monitor health status and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Implement behaviour management strategies for clients with behavioural challenges related to dementia or other conditions.
- Assist with mobility and transfers using appropriate techniques and equipment to prevent injury.
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living, nursing home care, or home care environments.
- Knowledge of patient care practices including dementia, Alzheimer's, hospice, and senior care.
- Ability to administer medication safely and perform first aid when necessary.
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach towards vulnerable individuals.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and perform physically demanding tasks as required.
- Driving licence preferred for transportation duties.
- Organisation skills for meal preparation, medication management, and documentation.
- Experience in behaviour management techniques for clients with cognitive impairments or behavioural challenges.
