The Bath Mental Health Research Group (MHRG) is a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR)-funded research centre based at the University of Bath.
Established in January 2025, the Centre brings together researchers, practitioners, policy-makers and people with lived experience to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people aged 12–25.
The MHRG is funded until 31 December 2029 and works in partnership with the Universities of Bristol and Exeter through the GW4 network, alongside NHS, education, local authority and third-sector partners. Together, we undertake high-quality research that addresses the priorities of children, young people, families and the services that support them.
Our Department of Psychology is world-renowned for its excellence in research and teaching, regularly appearing in the top 5 in national league tables (e.g., The Complete University Guide). Research in the department occurs across more than six sub-disciplines in psychology, including clinical, cognitive, developmental, environmental, forensic, health, and social psychology. The department has a rapidly expanding Early Career Researcher community, who offer peer support alongside a broader university programme of professional development activities for research staff.
The department resides in a new purpose-built £30 million building, containing 10,000 square feet of state-of-the-art labs for interview, social group observation, EEG/ERP, virtual reality, psychobiology, eye-tracking, pain, cross-modal, and computerised testing.
We are seeking a Centre Administrator to play a central role in supporting the successful operation of the Centre. Working closely with the Centre Manager, academic leads and professional services colleagues, you will provide high-quality administrative, financial and governance support across a wide range of activities including budget monitoring, stakeholder engagement, governance support, events, communications and Centre administration.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing and collaborative research environment and contribute to the continued development of the Centre's systems, processes and ways of working.
The role requires close liaison with colleagues across the University of Bath, partner universities and a wide range of external organisations including NHS services, local authorities, schools, voluntary sector organisations and community partners, and involves coordinating financial processes, purchasing, payments, stakeholder engagement, meetings, events, communications and other Centre activities.
This is a full-time role, working 36.5 hours per week (1.0 fte) for a fixed-term period until December 2029.
Due to the nature of the role, regular on-site attendance at the University of Bath is required. This post is therefore not suitable for fully remote working.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact Andie Barlow, Centre Manager at [email protected].
