Formed in 1968, Chess Plastics manufactures a wide range of high quality plastic components that are used in car and truck assembly, construction, leisure, brewery, DIY and electronic markets.
We have 20 plastic injection moulding machines, ranging from 500Tonne to 1300Tonne, in our 50,000 sq feet Droitwich factory & warehouse. Most of the machines are fitted with robotic arms and conveyor belts to increase efficiency, and we operate 24 hours a day. Components are produced, assembled, finished and packaged as required within our BSI / ISO quality system for delivery to our UK customers.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 3 year apprenticeship in process setting with day/block release in polymer training leading to a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Award on the Polymer Processing Technician Apprenticeship from City Of Wolverhampton College.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the position involves the setting up of production products in our range of 20 plastic injection moulding machines.
The main responsibilities will include:
1. The hanging, installation and setting of tooling in nominated presses - Complying with Statutory Regulations and Company Safety Procedures - to achieve products that conform to quality and product targets.
2. The identification and reporting of setting parameters for production tooling, including the tool condition and repairs required.
3. The monitoring and correction of out of specification process conditions as directed by the Technician.
4. To ensure that the presses comply with current Health and Safety legislation, after tool changes and before hand-over to the Operator.
GCSE Grade 4-9 (A-C) English & Maths or equivalent grades are required
Monday to Friday 38 hours per week
