Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Childcare Practitioner to join our vibrant team on a part-time basis to work as part of the ACE Team providing early learning and childcare in a free flow setting to children aged 2 to 5 years. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children, supporting their developmental needs through engaging activities and personalised care. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about early childhood education and working with young children. The Childcare Practitioner will play a vital role in fostering positive growth and learning experiences, ensuring compliance with all safety and care standards.
Hours and days: 14 hours per week
Monday: 8.45–3.45
Thursday: 3.30–4.30 (Staff Meeting)
Friday: 8.45–3.45
Duties
· Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development
· Supervise children during playtime, meals, rest periods, and organised activities
· Maintain a safe and hygienic environment in accordance with health and safety regulations
· Support children's individual needs through personalised care plans
· Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding children's progress and daily activities
· Assist in the organisation of nursery routines and educational programmes
· Ensure all activities comply with childcare policies and procedures
· Contribute to the ongoing development of the nursery’s programmes through innovative ideas and feedback
Experience
· HNC Childhood Practice (SCQF 7) or SVQ Social Services (Children & Young People) SCQF 7
· Proven experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting
· Knowledge of early childhood education principles and child development stages
· Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
· Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
· Organised with the ability to multitask efficiently within a busy environment
