About the Role
TD Tyre Recycling Ltd is looking for a reliable, hardworking and professional driver to join our waste tyre collection team.
The role involves driving a 3.5-tonne box van to garages, dealerships and other customer premises to collect waste tyres.
This is not a driving-only position. The successful applicant will be required to manually load waste tyres into the van, complete invoices and Waste Transfer Notes, return to our Carmarthen yard to unload and then leave the yard again to complete further collections when required.
The position is physically demanding and involves repeated manual handling throughout the working day.
Main Responsibilities
- Following daily collection instructions and schedules provided by management.
- Driving a company 3.5-tonne box van safely and responsibly.
- Travelling to garages, dealerships and other customer premises to collect waste tyres.
- Manually loading waste tyres into the van throughout the working day.
- Completing customer invoices, Waste Transfer Notes and other collection paperwork accurately.
- Dealing with customers politely and professionally while representing TD Tyre Recycling Ltd.
- Ensuring tyres are loaded safely and that the vehicle is not overloaded.
- Returning to the yard to unload collected tyres safely and efficiently.
- Preparing the van and leaving the yard again to complete further collections when instructed.
- Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks and immediately reporting any faults or damage.
- Keeping the vehicle clean, tidy and in a safe, roadworthy condition.
- Following management instructions, company procedures and health and safety requirements at all times.
- Assisting with general yard duties when required.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A full UK driving licence permitting them to drive a 3.5-tonne vehicle.
- Previous experience driving vans or commercial vehicles.
- A safe and responsible driving record.
- The physical ability to repeatedly lift, move, load and unload waste tyres.
- The ability to follow instructions and complete scheduled collections efficiently.
- Good written skills to complete invoices, Waste Transfer Notes and collection paperwork accurately.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- A reliable, punctual and responsible approach to work.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A professional attitude when dealing with customers and representing the business.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Multi-drop collections or deliveries.
- Driving a 3.5-tonne box van.
- Waste management or recycling.
- The tyre or automotive industry.
- Completing invoices, Waste Transfer Notes or similar paperwork.
Full training on our collection procedures and paperwork will be provided.
The Person We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who genuinely wants a permanent, full-time position and understands the physical demands of the role.
The successful applicant must be prepared to:
- Attend work reliably and punctually.
- Follow instructions provided by management.
- Complete physically demanding collections throughout the working day.
- Load and unload waste tyres by hand.
- Return to the yard, unload and leave again for further collections when required.
- Complete paperwork clearly and accurately.
- Treat customers, colleagues, vehicles and equipment with respect.
- Represent TD Tyre Recycling Ltd professionally at all times.
This position would not be suitable for someone looking for a role where the majority of the working day is spent solely driving or remaining in the cab.
