We are looking for passionate Registered Nurses to support our Birmingham-based service user. Candidates must be based outside of the Midlands; however, please note that each shift includes 2 hours of paid travel time.
Our service user has a spinal cord injury and lives with her friend in a ground-floor flat. She is fiercely independent despite being tetraplegic and, as a nurse within her package of care, you will play a vital role in promoting and advocating for her independence, which is central to her wellbeing and quality of life.
She has a fantastic sense of humour, is quick-witted, and enjoys engaging conversations, so there is rarely a dull moment on shift. She also has a keen interest in genealogy and enjoys exploring family history and tracing family lineages.
Our service user lives with Complex PTSD, and nurses supporting her should be able to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care. As with many people living with PTSD, there may be times when her mood, communication style, or emotional presentation varies depending on how she is feeling. Successful candidates will be patient, adaptable, and able to respond calmly and professionally, recognising when reassurance, space, active listening, or a change in approach may be needed. Building trust, maintaining consistency, and supporting her emotional wellbeing are just as important as meeting her physical care needs.
Responsibilities Include:
- Personal care
- Catheter care and catheter changes
- Oxygen management
- Supporting a person living with a spinal cord injury
- Delivering trauma-informed PTSD support and management
- Promoting independence and choice in all aspects of care
Full handover and training will be provided by one of our Lead Nurses to ensure the successful candidate feels confident and supported in the role.

Working Pattern
- Day shifts only: 09:30 – 15:30
- (Occasionally 10:30 – 16:30)
- Monday to Sunday
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available
Whilst shifts are scheduled for 6 hours plus 2 hours paid travel time, the amount of direct support required may vary from day to day. Due to our service user’s individual needs and window of tolerance, she often requires approximately 3-6 hours of direct care. However, successful candidates will be paid for the full 6-hour shift and 2 hours travel time, regardless of the duration of hands-on support provided.
This flexibility allows nurses to provide truly person-centred support that respects our service user’s physical and emotional wellbeing whilst maintaining continuity and consistency of care.
Pay Rates
- £35.00 per hour during weekday shifts
- £37.00 per hour during weekends
- Plus 2 hours paid travel time daily at £35.00 per hour
