Job description - the role

On Behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Principle Designer for a 6 month contract based in Birmingham (hybrid)
Candidate Profile: Key accountabilities, skills & experience
The successful candidate will champion design safety across multi-disciplinary teams, provide expert CDM advice and support the continued growth of our CDM Principal Designer capability.
You will be expected to:
- Lead design risk and hazard workshops.
- Apply the General Principles of Prevention to identify and reduce design risks.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to ensure safety is embedded throughout projects.
- Manage high-risk interfaces and complex infrastructure risks.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients on CDM Regulations 2015 requirements.
- Prepare and manage Pre-Construction Information (PCI) packs.
- Coordinate communication between clients, designers, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Undertake design and site safety audits, identify improvements and share lessons learned.
- Oversee the preparation and completion of Health & Safety Files throughout project delivery.
- Relevant degree in Civil, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
- Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body.
- Experience as a CDM Principal Designer, Design Safety Specialist, or similar design risk role.
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and infrastructure design risks.
