British Flowerpots is one of the UK's leading manufacturers of handcrafted ceramic flowerpots. Every product we produce is handcrafted in our Yorkshire workshop using traditional pottery techniques combined with modern manufacturing practices.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Ceramic Production Technician to join our skilled production team.
This is not a general factory role. We are looking for experienced manufacturing professionals who take pride in producing exceptional work, understand craftsmanship and quality, and are committed to maintaining the highest standards.
The Role
You will play a key role in the manufacture of our handcrafted ceramic flowerpots, taking ownership of the quality of your own work throughout the production process.
Working within a skilled production team, you will contribute to every stage of ceramic and pottery manufacturing while maintaining excellent standards of workmanship, consistency and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture handcrafted ceramic products to the highest quality standards.
- Prepare and work with clay throughout the production process.
- Form, finish and fettle ceramic products.
- Apply glazes and decorative finishes.
- Load and unload kilns safely and efficiently.
- Carry out quality control inspections throughout production.
- Identify defects and resolve quality issues before products progress through manufacture.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain consistent manufacturing standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within production.
- Assist with packing finished products ready for dispatch.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years' experience within a skilled trade, craft or precision manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable experience producing consistently high-quality work.
- Proven ability to carry out quality control and quality assurance within your own role.
- Excellent practical and manual skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic and pride in your workmanship.
Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following industries is highly desirable:
- Ceramic or pottery manufacturing.
- Clay production or processing.
- Precision engineering.
- CNC machining.
- Toolmaking.
- Joinery or cabinet making.
- Furniture manufacturing.
- Automotive manufacturing.
- Aerospace manufacturing.
- Glass manufacturing.
- Stone masonry.
- Other quality-focused craft or manufacturing industries.
Experience with clay, pottery, glazing, fettling, kiln loading, kiln firing or ceramic manufacturing is advantageous but not essential.
