We’re recruiting a Receptionist to provide front-line reception and clerical support within Council’s Corporate Support Services: People. This is a key administrative role, ideal for someone organised, customer-focused, and fluent in Welsh.
About the Role
As a Receptionist, you’ll provide greeting and reception duties, routine clerical and administrative support, and assist with office organisation to ensure smooth service delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Undertaking reception and greeting duties, answering routine telephone and face-to-face enquiries
- Providing clerical support including photocopying, filing, emailing, and completing routine forms
- Maintaining manual and computerised records and management information systems
- Undertaking copy-typing, word-processing, and IT-based tasks under supervision
- Sorting and distributing mail
- Organising meetings, including booking rooms and making travel/accommodation arrangements
- Assisting with office stationery supplies and stock room organisation
- Attending and participating in relevant meetings and training activities
- Providing cover for colleagues during absences
- Ensuring confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy are maintained at all times
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking candidates with:
- 5 GCSEs (Grades A–C) including Maths and English
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant discipline (desirable)
- ECDL or equivalent (or commitment to gain within 18 months)
- Experience in admin/clerical/finance environments
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong IT skills (Word, spreadsheets, databases)
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively
- Strong communication skills (face-to-face, written, telephone, email)
- Ability to work constructively as part of a team
- Respect for confidentiality at all times
- Welsh language skills are essential – Level 4
