Lilyrose Care Group is looking for an ambitious, commercially minded and relationship-focused Head of Development to lead our growth and development agenda.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for developing and delivering our growth strategy, identifying new opportunities, strengthening strategic partnerships and overseeing tendering and business development activity. You will work closely with the Company Director and senior management team to support the continued growth, sustainability and success of the organisation.
The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with strong operational delivery, excellent communication skills and a proven ability to build productive relationships across health and social care.
Key responsibilities
Growth Strategy, Planning and Advice
· Lead the development and implementation of the organisation's growth strategy.
· Develop sustainable and reliable income streams, with clear objectives and KPIs for each funding stream.
· Identify and develop new business, partnership and income-generating opportunities.
· Lead due diligence, compliance, risk management and contact/contract acceptance processes relating to growth activity.
· Develop individual plans for different income streams, ensuring value for money and a strong return on investment.
· Oversee the development of business development and funding strategies and maintain strong relationship pipelines.
· Monitor market and sector trends and advise the Company Director and senior management on emerging opportunities.
Tendering and Development Operations
· Lead the delivery of all tendering and development activity.
· Oversee the development and implementation of annual business development and activity plans.
· Lead tender applications and contract achievements from opportunity identification through to submission and implementation.
· Ensure appropriate governance, due diligence and compliance processes are followed.
· Set and manage annual service budgets relating to development activity.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an annual programme of development campaigns.
People Management
· Manage and support Registered Managers through regular one-to-one meetings, supervision and performance appraisals.
· Support managers to deliver high-quality performance and develop their skills and competencies.
· Work with the Company Director and senior management team to plan organisational development and business growth.
· Recruit and support the induction of new team members as the organisation grows.
· Build collaborative relationships with Commissioners, colleagues, consultants and other key stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement and External Representation
· Represent Lilyrose Care Group at relevant meetings, events and conferences, including external presentations where appropriate.
· Establish and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, councils, health and social care organisations and other key stakeholders.
· Increase the organisation's reach, profile and income through effective partnership working and external representation.
Monitoring and Reporting
· Produce detailed quarterly income and growth activity reports.
· Monitor performance against agreed objectives and KPIs.
· Provide clear analysis, recommendations and projections to support senior management decision-making.
· Monitor the impact and effectiveness of growth activities and make recommendations for improvement.
About you
We are looking for an experienced business development or growth professional who can operate confidently at a senior level and demonstrate:
· Proven experience in business development, growth, tendering or a related senior role, ideally within health and social care.
· Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of income generation and sustainable growth.
· Experience of developing and implementing successful growth strategies.
· Experience of managing tenders, contracts, funding opportunities and business proposals.
· Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
· Strong leadership and people-management capabilities.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present confidently to external stakeholders.
· Strong analytical, organisational and project-management skills.
· A proactive and solution-focused approach, with the ability to identify opportunities and turn them into results.
· An understanding of governance, due diligence, compliance and risk management.
