The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced free-lance English Tutor to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English Language and Literature and be confident teaching across Key Stages 3 to 5 (Years 7–13). They would need to be available to teach in-person, small groups on a Sunday morning, with the potential for more in-person and remote teaching during the week and weekend. Travel to Tunbridge Wells is essential.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to each student’s needs, tracking progress, communication with parents, maintaining your own calendar and helping students achieve their academic goals — whether that’s improving their grades, preparing for exams, or enhancing their writing and analytical skills.
Please note: this is a self-employed (contractor) position. This is not an offer of employment. Successful candidates will be responsible for invoicing for all completed work.
Requirements
- A degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Proven experience teaching English at KS3–KS5 (GCSE and A-Level)
- Strong subject knowledge and familiarity with UK exam board specifications (e.g., AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for teaching and supporting young people
- Enhance DBS (this is something you can apply for yourself)
