Vehicle Prepper / Paint Sprayer
Specialist Race Transporters & Bespoke Vehicles
£20.00–£25.00 per hour depending on experience
Hopkins Motorsport Ltd, based just outside Bristol, specialises in the design, manufacture, refurbishment, rental and sale of bespoke race transporters, exhibition vehicles and specialist commercial vehicles for customers throughout the UK and Europe.
We are looking for a skilled Vehicle Prepper / Paint Sprayer to join our workshop team.
The role includes preparing and painting vehicle bodywork together with bespoke aluminium and MDF interior panels, so you will be involved in producing a high-quality finish throughout the vehicle, both inside and out.
This is a varied role working on one-off specialist vehicles rather than repetitive production work. Every project is different, and you will be involved from the preparation stages through to the finished vehicle.
For the right person, there is also the opportunity to become involved in other areas of our business, including coachbuilding, vehicle assembly and interior fit-out.
The role includes

- Preparation and painting of bespoke aluminium and MDF interior panels
- Priming and paint preparation
- Spraying 2K primer, basecoat and topcoat finishes
- Flatting, polishing and final finishing
- Vehicle strip and reassembly
- Working independently and as part of our workshop team
- Following paint manufacturer guidelines and maintaining high standards
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
What we're looking for
You should have previous experience in vehicle preparation and paint spraying and be confident using modern paint systems, including 2K products and basecoats.
Experience in commercial vehicles, coachbuilding, restoration or prestige vehicles would be an advantage.
The ideal candidate will:
- Produce work to a consistently high standard
- Work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Take pride in the quality of their work
- Be reliable and able to manage their own workload
- Work well as part of a team
- Have a positive attitude and willingness to help where required
Experience of monitoring and ordering paint shop materials and consumables, including wet and dry goods, would be an advantage, although this is not essential.
Due to our location, applicants must have their own reliable transport to and from work.
