Position Summary:
Teignbridge Propellers International Ltd is currently looking to employ an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop our engineering function. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing engineering projects, technical resources and engineering standards, while supporting production, quality and commercial objectives.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The Engineering Manager will lead and manage the engineering team, including design, technical and project engineering personnel.
The role will involve reviewing and approving engineering drawings, calculations, specifications and technical documentation, as well as providing technical support to production, purchasing, sales and customers. The Engineering Manager will ensure that designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations and classification requirements.
The successful candidate will identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, product performance and engineering efficiency. They will also manage engineering changes, ensuring appropriate documentation and configuration control are maintained.
The role will require regular liaison with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and external engineering organisations, together with supporting investigations into technical problems, failures and non-conformances. The Engineering Manager will also develop and maintain engineering procedures, standards and best practices.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
We are looking for someone with a Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Naval Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline, together with experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
You should have a strong understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes and technical specifications, as well as experience of managing multiple projects and competing priorities. A good knowledge of relevant engineering standards and regulations is essential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, together with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers and senior management. Customer visits and overseas travel may be required.
Experience working with classification societies such as RINA, ABS, DNV or Lloyd’s Register would be highly desirable. Experience in shaft and sterngear design to classification society requirements is also required.
Experience with CAD, 3D modelling and engineering design systems would be an advantage.
