Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and experienced HGV RoRo Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating flatbed lorries and specialised Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) vehicles to ensure the safe and timely delivery of loads. This role requires a valid HGV licence, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to safety and customer service. The position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, supporting efficient working practices across various locations.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate flatbed lorries and RoRo vehicles in accordance with road safety regulations and company policies
- Load and unload using appropriate equipment, ensuring secure stowage for transit
- Conduct pre-journey inspections of the vehicle, including checks on brakes, tyres, lights, and load security
- Plan routes effectively to optimise delivery schedules whilst adhering to legal driving hours
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and vehicle logs
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations throughout operations
- Assist with vehicle maintenance reporting as required to ensure optimal performance
Requirements
- Valid HGV licence with relevant categories for flatbed and RoRo operations
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably within the ground works sector
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for cargo securement on flatbeds and RoRos
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan routes efficiently
- Excellent driving record with a clean licence history
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating responsibility and professionalism at all times
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road
