About the Role
We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and nurturing Baby Room Leader to lead our baby room and provide the highest standards of care and education for children aged 0–18 months.
As Baby Room Leader, you will create a safe, stimulating, and loving environment where babies can learn, develop, and thrive. You will lead and support your team, ensuring exceptional practice, strong partnerships with parents, and compliance with the EYFS and safeguarding requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day running of the baby room.
- Provide a warm, caring, and stimulating environment that supports every child's individual development.
- Plan and deliver engaging activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Monitor children's learning and development through accurate observations and assessments.
- Ensure children's care routines, including feeding, sleeping, nappy changing, and personal care, are carried out to the highest standards.
- Build positive and professional relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on their child's progress.
- Supervise, motivate, and support members of the baby room team.
- Act as a positive role model, promoting best practice throughout the nursery.
- Ensure all safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies are followed at all times.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation within the room.
- Monitor resources and equipment, ensuring they are safe, well maintained, and appropriate for babies.
- Work closely with the Nursery Management Team to continuously improve the quality of provision.
- Support staff inductions, mentoring, and ongoing professional development.
- Ensure all required documentation and records are completed accurately and confidentially.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above) recognised in the UK.
- Previous experience working in an Early Years setting, including experience with babies.
- Experience leading or supervising a team.
- Excellent knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding, and child development.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A genuine passion for providing outstanding care and education.
- Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Room Leader.
- Experience preparing for Ofsted inspections.
- SENCO knowledge or experience supporting children with additional needs.
- Food Hygiene and Safeguarding training.
