Fixed Term Contract – Maternity Cover – Bookkeeper/Accounts Administrator
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day finance operations, and ensuring compliance with UK accounting and tax requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience using both Sage and Xero accounting software, be highly organised, and enjoy working independently in a small business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers.
- Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, and credit notes.
- Raise sales invoices according to the internal ‘deal sheet’ and update internal Excel file/s.
- Record bank transactions and perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and process Direct Debit payment run.
- Reconcile supplier and customer accounts.
- Maintain the general ledger.
- Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with company policies.
- Assist with financial administration and ad hoc reporting as required.
- Telephone answering to support the administration team.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous bookkeeping experience within a UK business.
- Proficiency in Sage accounting software
- Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
Desirable
- AAT qualification (Level 3 or above) or equivalent.
- Experience working within an SME or owner-managed business.
- Experience using online banking platforms and expense management systems.
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software

Package & Working Hours etc
- 3 days per week on site at our office in Elland (West Yorkshire).
- 8:30am to 5:00pm
- Current working pattern is Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, but there is flexibility to adjust this working pattern if needed
- Salary - £26600.00pa (pro-rated to 3 days per week)
- Fixed term contract – starting 31/08/2026 and running for 12 months
Pay: £26,600.00 per year
