Role Summary
Join us as a Stock Control Operative and you’ll be responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, handling, and distribution of materials to support production activities. You’ll ensure that all electronic components and inventory are managed efficiently, safely, and in line with company procedures, enabling smooth operational flow across departments.
Supporting the delivery of high-quality products and services by performing assigned tasks efficiently, safely, and to standard, while upholding Garner Osborne’s values, quality expectations, and commitment to continuous improvement.
The role is on site in Newbury and the hours are 07:45 – 16:45 Mon-Thurs, 07:45 – 14:15 Fri
Key Responsibilities
Goods Inwards & Inventory Control:
- Handle and manage electronic components with a strong understanding of their specifications and requirements.
- Inspect incoming goods against documentation to verify part numbers, quantities, and quality.
- Input and book materials accurately into the inventory management system.
- Conduct regular stock takes and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate stock levels to support production needs and prevent shortages.
Material Picking & Distribution:
- Pick and transact materials into kits for production in accordance with the Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Identify and pick material shortages promptly to maintain uninterrupted production flow.
- Ensure that all materials are issued, recorded, and stored in line with company processes and traceability requirements.
Stores Organisation & Upkeep:
- Maintain an organised, clean, and efficient stores area to support safe and effective working practices.
- Ensure all components are labelled, stored, and handled correctly to prevent damage or loss.
- Follow all site safety, ESD, and housekeeping standards.
- Ensure the work area and department are kept clean, tidy, and well organised at all times.
- Carry out routine daily and weekly clean‑downs in line with departmental standards.
Cross‑Department Collaboration:
- Liaise with procurement, production, and quality teams to resolve inventory discrepancies or supply issues.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to support operational efficiency and minimise downtime.
- Provide support to the assembly department when required, including assisting with basic assembly tasks to help meet production demands.
- Work flexibly to ensure workflow continuity across departments during busy periods or staff absences.
- Follow standard operating procedures and quality guidelines to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Report any issues, defects, or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
Essential Skills & Experience
- ESD awareness and understanding of safe handling practices for electronic components
- Experience working in a stores, warehouse, or materials handling environment (electronics preferred).
- Ability to understand component specifications and technical documentation.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Competent using inventory or ERP systems.
