We are seeking a proactive and skilled Facilities Maintenance Operator to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure equipment, facilities, and infrastructure are safe, reliable, and operating efficiently. This important role also includes responsibility for overseeing the pallet yard to ensure it is organised, safe, and compliant with site standards.
Your expertise will help maintain a safe, efficient, and well-functioning environment by performing a variety of technical tasks, troubleshooting issues, and carrying out maintenance activities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead maintenance efforts, utilise your mechanical and electrical skills, and contribute to the overall excellence of our operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules
- Carry out reactive/breakdown repairs on machinery and equipment, diagnose faults and implement effective repairs
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working order, keep your working area tidy and organised
- General building maintenance (lighting, doors, minor repairs) including basic plumbing and mechanical repairs
- Ensure site is clean, safe, and well maintained, and support contractors on site when required
- Oversee the day-to-day organisation of the pallet yard
- Work in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies
- Carry out risk assessments and follow safe systems of work including using appropriate PPE
- Report recurring faults, hazards, near misses, and incidents, as well as improvement opportunities
- Complete and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts inventory
Requirements for the role:
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a similar role with strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, including mechanical or electrical systems
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Understanding of safety procedures related to electrical work, welding, mechanical repairs, and working at heights
- Willing to learn new skills and undertake training where required
Desirable experience:
- Experience working with pallet storage / yard management.
- Forklift or other plant licences
