Job Title: Quality Manager
Reporting to: General Manager
Main purpose of job role:
· Drive rapid containment and resolution of quality issues
· Lead the reduction of customer complaints and cost of poor quality by driving root cause elimination, robust process control, and a culture of continuous improvement across the business.
· Drive the QMS as a proactive tool for process control, risk prevention, and continuous improvement, not just compliance
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Own and lead the Customer Service Query (CSQ) process, ensuring rapid containment, root cause analysis (RCA), and permanent corrective actions.
· Drive measurable reduction in customer complaints, internal defects & rework through data-led initiatives.
· Implement & enforce structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g. 8D, FMEA, Pareto analysis).
· Challenge existing processes & lead cross-functional improvement projects with Engineering and Operations.
· Establish quality KPIs and reporting dashboards to track trends, risks, and improvements.
· Ensure the QMS actively supports process control, compliance, and continuous improvement.
· Coordinate and manage all audit requirements for the QMS including internal audit schedule, BSI certification/routine audits, supplier audits and customer requested audits.
· Line management responsibility for the Quality dept
· Support New Product Introduction (NPI) process and determine critical to quality aspects.
· Ensure compliance to cGMP standard is implemented and maintained.
Essential background:
Experience within a high volume, multi-disciplined manufacturing environment and 5+ years working in a senior role focussed on quality management, & continuous improvement
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience of lean manufacturing principles (e.g. 6-Sigma)
Accountable for:
· Reduction in customer complaints (CSQ) year-on-year
· Reduction in Cost of Poor Quality (scrap, rework, returns)
· Improvement in Right First Time / First Pass Yield (with Operations team)
· Audit compliance with zero major non-conformances
Experience Required:
· Proven track record of reducing complaints or defects
· Hands-on experience with RCA methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone)
· Experience implementing Lean / Six Sigma projects with measurable outcomes
Personal Skills Required:
· Interpersonal skills and drive to engage with all business functions (development, operations, senior management)
· Strong leadership, organisational and time management skills
· Methodical and thorough to ensure compliance with detailed regulations.
· Good analytical skills and the ability to draw actionable conclusions
