The Housing Standards team are responsible for ensuring the Councils social housing portfolio of circa 9,000 dwellings is maintained to meet all current statutory, regulatory, and legislative standards. We have an exciting opportunity for an Operational Support Officer within our growing Housing Standards Contracts Team.
Our Service
The purpose of our Service is to provide quality, affordable, healthy, and sustainable homes that meet the present and future needs of all our tenants. The Housing Standards team is made up of six closely linked areas of housing expertise i.e., repairs, improvements, compliance, contracts, construction and safety. Each team consisting of suitably qualified, skilled, and experienced trade operatives, surveyors, or contract supervisors. Your New Role As an Operational Support Officer, you will work within the Contracts team and play a key role in the day-to-day administration of external contractor work. The core focus of the post is to be the principal point of contact for enquiries into the team, dealing with reactive repair requests from tenants, and working closely with Contract Supervisors to raise works orders, purchase orders and process invoices.
What We're Looking
For Essential:
- Ability to build positive working relationships with tenants, contractors and colleagues.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft software including Excel spreadsheets
- Experience of data entry
- Customer service experience
- Knowledge of housing regulations and landlord duties including AWABBS Law, damp and mould, asbestos awareness, gas regulations, working at heights, electrical safety and other compliance requirements
- Good knowledge of area and geography of our stock.
Desirable:
- Experience within contract administration or contractor management environments.

Additional Information
After training and induction has been completed hybrid working is available with a minimum of 2 days, 3 preferred, working from the Council offices. Working hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday-Thursday and 8.30am to 4.30pm Fridays.
