Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Person to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, you will ensure that our care homes remain safe, well-maintained, and fully operational. Your expertise in electrical, mechanical, and general maintenance tasks will help uphold the high standards our residents deserve. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a caring environment while demonstrating leadership and technical proficiency.
Duties
- Carry out general repairs (carpentry, painting, basic plumbing, minor electrical tasks).
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checks.
- Maintain the building, fixtures, fittings, and outdoor areas.
- Respond to maintenance requests from staff and management.
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety and CQC requirements.
- Record all maintenance tasks in the home’s digital/logbook system.
- Support with fire safety checks (alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting).
- Conduct routine water temperature checks and legionella prevention tasks.
- Oversee contractors and ensure safe working practices.
- Call Out - To be available out of normal working hours to attend to emergency situations
- Assist with moving furniture, assembling equipment, and room setups.
- Report hazards, risks, or urgent issues immediately to management.
Essential requirements
- Proven experience in maintenance, caretaking, or a similar role.
- Strong practical skills across basic repairs and building upkeep.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks.
- Good communication skills and a friendly, professional manner.
- Understanding of health & safety regulations.
- Right to work in the UK.
