Overview
We're looking for an experienced Front of House Team Member to join our team at Restaurant 1812. Previous experience in a fine dining restaurant is essential, with confidence in delivering attentive, professional service and a strong understanding of food service etiquette. Basic wine knowledge and a genuine passion for hospitality are highly desirable. You'll be joining a small, welcoming team where attention to detail and creating memorable guest experiences are at the heart of everything we do. Responsibilities
- Deliver warm, professional service throughout each guest's dining experience in a relaxed fine dining environment.
- Serve food and beverages confidently, maintaining exceptional attention to detail and presentation.
- Present and serve wines, with confidence discussing the wine list and making recommendations where appropriate.
- Upsell additional offerings including cocktails, cheese course supplements, coffees and petit fours.
- Prepare the restaurant for service, ensuring all areas are clean, organised and set to a high standard.
- Complete end-of-service cleaning and closing duties to maintain the restaurant's presentation.
- Manage reservations, answer telephone enquiries and respond to guest queries in a friendly and professional manner.
- Maintain excellent product knowledge of the tasting menu, beverages and daily offerings.
- Work closely with the kitchen and fellow front of house team members to ensure seamless service.
- Consistently provide outstanding hospitality, creating a memorable experience for every guest.
- Manage time efficiently during busy periods to ensure timely service for all guests
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks when needed, supporting kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or food service experience is essential.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper handling procedures
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with guests and team members
- Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Experience with serving, upselling, and basic kitchen tasks is a plus
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy shifts
