We are looking for an experienced and reliable Fire Door Installer / Joiner to join our team. The successful candidate must have fire door installation experience and will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and upgrading of fire doors and associated joinery works, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with current fire safety regulations, manufacturers' instructions and project requirements.The role will involve working on a commercial project and requires a strong understanding of fire door installation and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install new fire doorsets, fire doors, frames and associated ironmongery.
- Carry out fire door replacement, repair, adjustment and remedial works.
- Install and fit fire-rated components including hinges, closers, intumescent strips, seals, locks, latches, letter plates and other associated hardware.
- Carry out joinery works associated with fire door installations and refurbishment.
- Ensure fire doors are installed in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and relevant standards.
- Inspect existing fire doors and identify defects, damage or areas requiring remedial works.
- Undertake adjustments to doors and frames to achieve the correct tolerances and operation.
- Complete remedial works identified through fire door inspections.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high-quality finish and meets the required fire safety and compliance standards.
- Accurately record completed works, measurements, materials used and any defects identified.
- Complete site paperwork, photographs and digital job records as required.
- Liaise professionally with site managers, clients, other trades and members of the public where required.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Follow all company Health & Safety policies, RAMS and site-specific requirements.
- Report any issues, delays, additional works or health and safety concerns to the relevant manager.
- Work efficiently and manage workload to meet agreed project deadlines.
- Ensure company tools, equipment and vehicles are maintained and used appropriately.
Skills & Experience Essential:
- Proven experience as a joiner, carpenter or fire door installer.
- Good practical knowledge of fire door installation and associated components.
- Experience carrying out fire door replacement, repair and remedial works.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and manufacturers' installation instructions.
- Good knowledge of general joinery and carpentry techniques.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Fire door installation or inspection qualification.
- Previous experience with Bolster Systems or equivalent.
- Relevant NVQ / City & Guilds qualification in Joinery or Carpentry.
- Experience working on commercial refurbishment or compliance projects.
- Knowledge of current fire door standards and legislation.
- CSCS card or relevant site qualification.

Health & Safety The Fire Door Installer / Joiner is expected to comply fully with all company and site-specific Health & Safety requirements, including RAMS, PPE requirements and safe systems of work.

The role holder will be expected to follow manufacturers' instructions, project specifications, relevant fire safety requirements and company procedures. Accurate completion of job records, photographs and compliance documentation is an important part of the role.
