Job Summary
Join our dedicated emergency CQC registered response team as an Ambulance Care Assistant/Driver, where you'll play a vital role in delivering compassionate patient care and ensuring safe transportation to healthcare facilities. This dynamic position combines the responsibilities of providing essential support to paramedics, first responders and patients with the crucial task of driving ambulance vehicles efficiently and safely. Your energetic approach and commitment to safety will help us deliver timely, professional medical assistance in diverse situations, making a real difference in people's lives every day.
We are looking for people to join our bank and are ideally able to commit to one shift per week (min 4 hours). You must be able to start work from the Ambulance Station at Malton, and be prepared to travel anywhere in the UK.
Duties
- Safely operate ambulance vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols, while maintaining a high standard of driving professionalism.
- Assist paramedics with patient handling, including lifting, transferring, and securing patients on stretchers or wheelchairs.
- Provide compassionate support to patients during transit, ensuring their comfort and dignity are maintained at all times.
- Conduct routine vehicle maintenance checks, including fluid levels, tire pressure, and safety equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, emergency services, and patients to coordinate smooth operations.
- Support the loading and unloading of medical equipment and supplies necessary for patient care.
- Maintain accurate records of journeys, patient details, and vehicle inspections in compliance with organisational policies.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; Category C1 and experience with commercial driving is highly desirable.
- Proven delivery driver experience or similar roles involving transportation of goods or passengers.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during patient transfers or equipment handling.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members, patients, and emergency responders.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures to ensure ambulance readiness at all times.
- Previous experience in driving emergency or service vehicles is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a proactive attitude towards safety and service excellence.

Pay: £12.75-£13.00 per hour
