Responsibilities
The successful applicant should be confident in carrying out:
- Routine servicing and maintenance
- Brake repairs and replacements
- Suspension repairs
- Basic vehicle electrical and wiring repairs
- Timing belt and timing chain replacement
- Tyre fitting when required
- Removal and refitting of body panels
- Exhaust repairs and replacement
- Engine removal, replacement and rebuilds
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years' experience as a motor mechanic
- Able to work independently and manage jobs from diagnosis to completion
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Reliable, confident and hardworking
- Good communication skills
- Full UK driving licence preferred

Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics to identify issues accurately across various vehicle models, including GM vehicles.
- Conduct repairs on diesel engines, powertrains, and vehicle electrical systems with precision and efficiency.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical tools to execute repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Execute vehicle maintenance procedures such as alignments, wheel balancing, brake repairs, and suspension work to ensure safety and performance standards are met.
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems effectively.
- Lead automotive service operations by supervising repair processes, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and customer expectations.
- Provide exceptional customer service by explaining repair procedures clearly and building trust with clients through professional communication.
- Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies including ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features and incorporate them into repair processes.
- Assist in training junior mechanics on diagnostic techniques, use of specialized equipment, and best practices in automotive repair.
- Maintain detailed documentation of repairs performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings for accurate record-keeping.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in dealership or independent auto repair shops.
- Extensive knowledge of automotive electrical systems, powertrain components, diesel engine repair, and vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics software and schematics interpretation.
- Familiarity with ADAS technology calibration and troubleshooting is highly desirable.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical instruments required for complex repairs.
- Experience working on GM vehicles or similar makes is preferred but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately while applying mechanical knowledge effectively.
- Strong commitment to quality workmanship coupled with excellent customer service skills.
