Activity organiser to work in a very busy residential home with elderly people who live with a dementia.
The position is every other weekend as part of the rota, pension scheme available, free parking, double time on bank holidays.
We are looking for an activity organiser:
- Are you a naturally warm, patient, supportive and kind person?

- Are you patient? Our residents live with differing forms of dementia and you need to have patience and good listening skills to be able to communicate in their way and at their pace.

Rosehill is a small, friendly residential home on the outskirts of Carlisle owned by an established charity called The Henry Lonsdale Trust. The residential home is attached to the beautiful Georgian manor house that you will be able to see just past the junction 43 roundabout before Aglionby village.

You will join a team of great people! It won’t take you long to get to know everyone as we only support 40 residents. Rosehill have never needed to employ outside agency workers which is testament to the friendly, reliable people you will be joining.

You will:
- Learn, shadow and then follow best practice at all times when caring for all of our residents.
- Be willing to embrace the whole role and learn all the aspects of older adults care from meal-time support, aspects of personal care, assisting with dressing and mobility, social interaction and activities for people who can no longer manage safely themselves. Don’t let anything put you off as your shadowing period will help you overcome any nervousness.
- Provide care and activities to residents in their daily lives in a patient, gentle, professional and person centred way.
- Do everything you can to support and encourage residents to engage with you and other people and activities to enjoy a fulfilled life within their Rosehill home.
- Learn and assist residents with all aspects of their care outlined within their agreed care plans including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional needs as well as care needs.
- Learn to input daily notes into resident’s records.
- Be a willing team member, able to take instruction from colleagues and seniors and suggest ideas and learn to carry out the role effectively.
- Learn to always promote and safeguard the wellbeing of residents, relatives, visitors and team members.
