JOB SUMMARY:
The Podiatry Service provides specialist care to a diverse group of patients with foot and
lower limb problems within both a primary and secondary care setting. The experienced
team of Podiatric Surgeons and Podiatrists assess, diagnose, and manage deformity or
pathology of the foot including specialised clinics within the field of Footwear,
Biomechanics, Diabetes, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Paediatrics and both Minor and
Complex Foot and Ankle Surgery. The Podiatrist’s are able to administer local
anaesthesia, undertake lesion / wound debridement using intricate scalpel skills and
provide skilled, evidence-based care to meet specific patient needs.
The post holder will support the Extended Scope MSK / Diabetes Podiatrists in
musculoskeletal/ Diabetic aspect of care within the Department of Podiatric Medicine
and Surgery and play a key role in ensuring the service meets expected results with
reference to national and local policies. The post holder must be able to demonstrate an
increased knowledge base within the chosen field and act as a role model for providing
quality care to patients and an expert training resource to AHP’s, GP’s and other health
and social care colleagues.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership Duties:
- Be instrumental in the implementation of local and national service priorities
relevant to all aspects of the service and act as support for the band 5 Podiatrists.
- To work collaboratively, develop and maintain relationships which ensure a
productive dialogue with all key partners within the Service and Integrated Medicine
and Rehabilitation Service Division, to ensure consistency and equity across the
service line.
- Advise the Extended Scope MSK/ Diabetes Podiatrists on issues of service delivery
including shortfalls and areas within the service under pressure to collaboratively
propose and evaluate the outcome of action plans
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of and apply all new directives, guidelines and
any legislation that will impact on the service.
- To work to deadlines, organise oneself and manage time appropriately.
Pay: £24.00-£30.00 per hour
