Poujoulat UK Limited is the UK arm of a large European group and is a dynamic building products distributor and services provider, operating on a business-to-business basis. Poujoulat UK Ltd is a small SME employing approximately 30–32 personnel.
We are looking for a Warehouse Operative to join our team at our Guildford Distribution Centre. Experience within the building trade distribution sector or branch distribution environment would be beneficial, and we are particularly interested in candidates looking to develop and progress their future career.
This role is focused on warehouse operations, stock management, goods inwards and outwards, and supporting trade counter activities. It is a physically demanding position that requires heavy lifting and the safe operation of warehouse equipment such as forklifts. Responsibilities
- Working closely with the Guildford Customer Services Department and Warehouse Manager.
- Load and unload vehicles with incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing orders.
- Organise and maintain inventory in designated storage areas.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform basic checks and minor maintenance on warehouse equipment as required.
- Utilise the warehouse management system to track inventory movements, including barcode scanning equipment.
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory checks.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow.
- Support trade counter operations when required.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and guidelines.
Requirements
- Ability to lift objects (up to 20kg) repeatedly throughout the day.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems is desirable.
- Experience in shipping, receiving, stock control, and materials handling is advantageous.
- Forklift certification, or willingness to obtain certification, is preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance is an asset.
- Experience within a builders' merchant, warehouse, or trade counter environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
