This is an exciting opportunity to join Fareham Housing as a Housing Allocations and Sustainment Trainee and begin a rewarding career helping local residents access and sustain suitable housing.
This newly created trainee role sits within our Housing Allocations and Sustainment team and provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across housing allocations, temporary accommodation and tenancy sustainment services. You will work alongside experienced housing professionals, learning how we support residents through their housing journey and helping some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
You'll work closely with Allocations Officers, Tenancy Support Officers, our Private Sector Temporary Accommodation Officer and the wider Housing and Homelessness teams. As you develop your skills and knowledge, you will gradually take responsibility for a range of frontline housing activities, including supporting the management of the Housing Register, assisting with housing allocations, helping customers move into accommodation and providing tenancy sustainment support.
The role will also give you the opportunity to work with a range of partners including Registered Providers, landlords, support agencies and community organisations. You'll help ensure customers receive the right support at the right time, enabling them to move towards long-term settled accommodation and maintain successful tenancies.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in housing, community support or local government, while making a genuine difference to people's lives.
We're looking for someone who is organised, enthusiastic and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
You'll have strong communication skills and be confident working with a wide range of customers, colleagues and partner organisations. You'll be able to demonstrate good attention to detail, a methodical approach to your work and the ability to manage your own workload effectively.
You will be comfortable dealing with sensitive situations and able to remain calm, tactful and professional when supporting customers who may be experiencing housing difficulties or other challenges. A genuine desire to help people and contribute to positive outcomes for residents is essential.
We are looking for someone with good ICT skills and a willingness to learn new systems and processes. Previous customer-facing experience is important, and while an understanding of housing need or homelessness issues would be beneficial, full training will be provided.
Most importantly, you'll be committed to learning, enjoy working as part of a supportive team and share our passion for delivering high-quality housing services that improve the lives of local residents.
A full driving licence is required as the role will involve travel to customer and property visits.
Fareham Housing is committed to providing high-quality housing services that support residents to access safe, secure and sustainable homes. We take pride in being a friendly and professional organisation where colleagues are encouraged to contribute ideas, develop their skills and make a meaningful difference to the communities we serve.
As a trainee, you'll receive support, guidance and practical experience from knowledgeable colleagues who are committed to helping you develop and succeed. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build a rewarding career within housing and local government.
