Be part of something from day one.
We are recruiting for a brand-new padel club opening in Portsmouth, and we're looking for two Duty Managers to help us get it right from the very first serve.
This is a hands-on role for someone who likes being on their feet, talking to people, and taking real ownership of their shift. You'll run front of house, manage court bookings, serve great coffee, handle the pro-shop, and make sure the club opens and closes safely and smoothly. No two days will look the same — and because we're a start-up, you'll have a genuine say in how we do things.
You don't need to have played padel. You do need to enjoy looking after people and getting things done properly.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming members and visitors, and being the friendly face of the club
- Managing court bookings, amendments and cancellations, and keeping courts busy
- Serving coffee, drinks and food to a consistently high standard
- Running racquet hire and pro-shop sales
- Handling payments, tills and cash reconciliation accurately
- Opening and closing the club, and keeping it safe, clean and well presented
- Supporting competitions, corporate bookings and social events
- Championing health, safety and food hygiene standards at all times
- Promoting memberships, coaching programmes and club events
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Experience in a customer-facing role — hospitality, leisure, retail or similar
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Confidence handling payments and till systems
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- The ability to run a shift independently and take responsibility
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- A positive, reliable, professional attitude and a genuine team mindset
Nice to have:
- Café, coffee shop, bar or food and beverage experience
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Experience with booking, EPOS or venue management systems
- First Aid qualification
- Experience in a sports club or leisure venue
- An interest in padel or racquet sports
What you'll get
- £28,000 per annum
- The chance to shape a brand-new club from the ground up
- A varied, active role with real responsibility
Hours
Full-time, 40 hours per week on a rota, including evenings and weekends.
