Driver – | UK & Ireland | 4 Nights Out Per Week
We are currently seeking a reliable, professional and hardworking HGV Class 2 (Category C) Tramper Driver to join our small family company.This is a regular and consistent Sunday-to-Thursday position, transporting goods between the UK and Ireland. The role would suit an experienced driver who is comfortable with tramping, ferry crossings, customs procedures and physically demanding handball deliveries.
Shift Pattern
Sunday: Start at 8:00am
Monday to Thursday : Working throughout Ireland
Thursday: Return to the UK by ferry
4 nights out per week , including bank holidays
Pay & Allowances Sunday: £19.71 per hour, generally based on a 15-hour shift including ferry crossing
Monday - Thursday: £13.71 per hour, approximately 40+ hours per week Overnight allowance: £30 - per night 4 nights out per week All hours worked are paid, including ferry crossing time, generally working a 55+ hour week on average
Payed monthly on the last Friday of the month auto enrolled into government pension scheme - you can opt out
Holiday Entitlement
30 days' annual holiday per year
10 days out of the 30 are allocated to our annual two-week Christmas shutdown
Christmas shutdown dates may vary depending on operational requirements
The Role
You will depart with a full load, travelling to Ireland by ferry . You will remain in Ireland throughout the working week before returning to the UK on Thursday. The load will be replenished by a supply vehicle, with handball Tran-ship carried out as part of a three-person team.
Your responsibilities will include:
carrying out handball deliveries throughout Ireland – a mix of private residences and storage units Returning to the same customer addresses each week
Providing excellent customer service and maintaining strong customer relationships
Completing all required delivery and transport paperwork
Ensuring goods are delivered safely, securely and efficiently
Complying with all drivers' hours, Working Time Regulations and relevant legal requirements
Maintaining a professional, courteous and safety-conscious approach at all times
Keeping your allocated vehicle clean and presentable.
Each driver has a dedicated vehicle. Drivers are expected to ensure their vehicle is spotlessly clean inside and out on returning each Thursday. All necessary cleaning products are provided.
This is a physically demanding role. Some days may involve early starts, and handball deliveries can be repetitive and physically strenuous.
Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential, as you will regularly deal directly with customers at their homes.
Requirements
Valid HGV Class 2 / Category C licence
Valid Driver CPC
Valid Digital Tachograph Card
Physically fit and able to undertake handball deliveries
Good understanding of drivers' hours and Working Time Regulations
Reliable, professional and safety-conscious attitude
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Previous experience with ferry crossings/customs procedure is preferred - not essential
Previous handball delivery experience would be a huge advantage
