Abode Retreats is a growing holiday let and serviced accommodation management company looking for a reliable, detail-focused cleaner to join our team.
We manage a growing portfolio of holiday homes, contractor accommodation and retreat properties across East Suffolk, and we're looking for someone who takes genuine pride in leaving a property spotless and ready for the next guests.
This is not about rushing through as many properties as possible. Quality and consistency are extremely important to us, and we're looking for someone who shares that approach.
Location
You must be based in Saxmundham or the surrounding area, as our central cleaning and linen store is located in Saxmundham.
Depending on the day's schedule, you may be required to collect clean linen/supplies from the Saxmundham store before travelling to a property and return used linen afterwards.
Our properties are located across East Suffolk, so you must:
- Have your own reliable vehicle and a full driving licence
- Be comfortable travelling between properties
- Be willing to travel approximately as far as Southwold to the north and Framlingham to the west, with most work centred around Saxmundham and the surrounding area but we are now expanding into more areas such as Felixstowe and Woodbridge.
What you'll be doing
The role will include cleaning and preparing properties between guest stays, including:
- Full changeover cleans
- Making beds to a high standard
- Changing and managing linen and towels
- Cleaning kitchens and bathrooms thoroughly
- Vacuuming and mopping
- Dusting and presentation
- Restocking guest supplies
- Checking the property for damage or maintenance issues
- Reporting anything requiring attention
- Completing a final quality check before leaving
- Collecting and returning linen/supplies where required
You'll be given clear property checklists and systems to make the role as straightforward as possible.
Working hours
This is a part-time, flexible role, with the opportunity for hours to increase as our portfolio grows.
The nature of holiday accommodation means working days will vary depending on guest departures and arrivals. Most cleaning takes place during the daytime between approximately 10am and 4pm, including some weekend work where required. Though there will be times where you will work alongside our existing team for particularly large properties.
We're particularly looking for somebody with good weekday availability and flexibility around changeover days.
Who we're looking for
Previous professional cleaning experience would be helpful, but attitude and attention to detail are more important to us.
You'll need to be:
- Extremely reliable
- Thorough and detail-focused
- Able to work independently
- Well organised
- Comfortable using a smartphone for cleaning schedules/checklists
- Flexible when bookings change
- Comfortable travelling between properties
- Someone who notices the little things rather than simply completing the basic clean
Most importantly, we're looking for somebody we can trust to take ownership of the properties they look after.
There is genuine scope for the right person to take on additional responsibility and more regular hours as our portfolio grows.
