Job Overview
Onshore Technical is supporting a key client in the utilities sector who is looking to appoint an experienced SHEQ Advisor to support live projects across Bristol and South Wales.
This is a full-time contract role, outside IR35, with an immediate start and expected duration until November.
The role will focus on promoting SHEQ best practice, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting a safe, high-quality working environment across utilities and gas transmission projects. Experience working on gas AGIs, civils, and below-ground pipework would be preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote SHEQ best practice across all projects and operational teams
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, legal, client, and industry requirements
- Provide health and safety guidance to management, supervisors, contractors, and site teams
- Lead and support accident, incident, and close call investigations
- Carry out site safety tours, inspections, and audits
- Manage and update site health and safety folders
- Review and maintain RAMS, CDM Plans, Lift Plans, and project safety documentation
- Support the implementation of HSE policies, procedures, and system updates
- Chair SHEQ meetings and ensure actions are closed out
- Maintain training records and support renewal planning
- Manage safety equipment requirements, calibration, renewals, and statutory testing
- Review subcontractor health and safety documentation, policies, and training records
- Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 audits and non-conformance management
- Assist with Achilles/BAB audit preparation
- Support PPE distribution, TBTs, Safety Alerts, drug and alcohol testing, and office/site H&S checks
- Collate and manage data for carbon footprint reporting where required
Requirements
- Previous SHEQ experience within gas transmission, utilities, civils, or infrastructure projects
- Experience working on gas AGIs and below-ground pipework preferred
- NEBOSH or IOSH accreditation
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and site compliance requirements
- Experience carrying out site inspections, audits, and safety tours
- Ability to review RAMS, CDM Plans, Lift Plans, and subcontractor documentation
- Confident supporting incident investigations and close call reporting
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- SHEA Gas and NRSWA preferred
- Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Achilles, or BAB audits would be advantageous
