We are now seeking a hands-on Line Leader to play a key role in driving performance, maintaining standards, and supporting our production teams on the shop floor.
The Role
As a Line Leader, you will take ownership of a designated production line, combining leadership with active, hands-on involvement. You will be responsible for ensuring your line operates safely, efficiently, and in line with production targets, quality standards, and customer requirements.
Reporting to the Production Team Lead and Production Manager, you’ll be the first point of contact for your team—coordinating activities, resolving issues, and keeping production running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Lead the day-to-day running of a production line to meet output, quality, and efficiency targets
- Ensure production starts on time and continues without disruption
- Coordinate operators and packers to maintain smooth workflow
- Monitor performance, resolve issues quickly, and minimise downtime
- Support production directly, including operating machinery where required
- Lead product changeovers efficiently and correctly
Team Leadership
- Organise daily workloads and allocate tasks
- Provide clear direction, support, and guidance to your team
- Deliver shift briefings and communicate priorities
- Support training and onboarding of new employees
- Foster a positive, accountable, and team-focused culture
Quality, Food Safety & Compliance
- Carry out and oversee all required quality checks
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, hygiene, and safety standards
- Always maintain audit-ready production areas
- Escalate and support resolution of quality or compliance issues
Documentation & Control
- Complete and verify production records accurately
- Maintain traceability and compliance documentation
- Input production data into company systems
Health & Safety
- Promote and maintain safe working practices
- Ensure PPE, hygiene, and housekeeping standards are met
- Report hazards and encourage a safety-first culture
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve efficiency
- Support problem-solving and process improvements
About You
Essential:
- Experience in manufacturing, production, food, nutrition, or FMCG
- Previous experience coordinating people or leading within a production environment
- Strong understanding of production processes
- Good knowledge of food safety, quality, and health & safety standards
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to problem-solve and make decisions under pressure
- Hands-on, proactive, and team-oriented approach
Desirable:
- Experience as a Line Leader, Team Leader, or Senior Operator
- Knowledge of HACCP and GMP standards
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £27,500.00 per year
