Master, here is the fully refined final version. I tightened the wording, removed repeated duties, combined overlapping sections, added grocery collections properly, and kept the expectations clear without making the advert unnecessarily long.

Job Overview
D Group Holding Limited is seeking an experienced Private Family Chauffeur to support a private household based in South West London, SW18.
This is a permanent, full time, PAYE position paying £45,000 gross per year.
We are looking for someone reliable, punctual, discreet, practical, flexible and easy to work with.
The successful candidate should be capable of managing normal family transport and household driving requirements independently, without needing constant supervision.
Previous genuine private family chauffeur experience is strongly preferred.
Experience limited to taxi, Uber, ride hailing, delivery or courier work without relevant private household or professional chauffeur experience will not meet the requirements of the role.
This is a normal private family chauffeur position. No bodyguard, security, surveillance, threat assessment or close protection duties are required.
Candidates with previous security or close protection experience may apply if they are genuinely interested in working as a normal family chauffeur and are comfortable carrying out everyday household driving duties.
Working Hours and Flexibility
The normal working arrangement is:
- 8 hours per day
- 6 days per week
- Monday to Saturday
- 48 hours per week
Starting and finishing times are not fixed and will vary according to family requirements.
For example, a working day may begin at 8:00 am, 8:30 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am or another reasonable time communicated by the household.
The finishing time will normally adjust so that the standard working day remains eight hours.
During school term, working times may often follow the children’s school schedule. During school holidays, family travel, appointments or other periods, the schedule may change.
Candidates must be genuinely comfortable with flexible working hours and should not expect permanent fixed office hours.
Reasonable notice of significant schedule changes will be provided wherever practicable.
Working arrangements will comply with applicable UK working time and rest requirements.
What the Role Involves
The chauffeur will support the family with normal day to day transport and household driving requirements.
Duties include:
- Safely and professionally transporting family members
- School runs
- Driving family members to appointments, activities, meetings and engagements
- Airport transfers and collections
- Occasional early morning, late evening and night journeys
- Planning routes in advance and monitoring traffic
- Adapting routes when required
- Maintaining strong practical knowledge of London roads and routes
- Using navigation systems appropriately without depending on them for every routine journey
- Finding lawful and practical parking independently
- Recognising road restrictions, bus lanes, red routes, access restrictions and prohibited routes
- Informing the family where a requested route, stop or manoeuvre cannot lawfully or safely be completed
- Grocery and shopping collections
- Collecting dry cleaning, documents and other household items
- Collecting parcels and deliveries from the family apartment, another household location or building concierge
- Taking parcels to a Post Office, courier point or other requested location
- Delivering or collecting personal or household items between locations
- Assisting with luggage, shopping, children’s belongings and personal items
- Opening and closing vehicle doors where appropriate
- Maintaining assigned vehicles in a clean, presentable, fuelled, safe and roadworthy condition
- Carrying out routine vehicle checks
- Checking lights, windows, doors and vehicle systems before finishing work
- Reporting accidents, damage, faults, warning lights or traffic related issues promptly
- Recording vehicle related expenses correctly
- Following all lawful and reasonable household instructions
Where parking or access is difficult, the chauffeur is expected to identify a lawful and practical solution wherever reasonably possible.
Independent Working and Availability
The successful candidate must be capable of handling routine chauffeur duties independently.
This includes:
- Understanding clear instructions without repeated explanation
- Planning normal journeys independently
- Anticipating traffic, parking and timing issues
- Resolving routine access and parking difficulties
- Making sensible and lawful driving decisions
- Communicating clearly when genuine clarification is required
- Remaining calm and practical when plans change
Private chauffeur work naturally includes periods when the driver is waiting rather than actively driving.
Waiting and quiet periods during confirmed working hours remain part of the working day.
The chauffeur must remain available throughout the agreed shift unless specifically released early.
A quiet period does not automatically mean that the working day has finished.
Additional Time and Time Off in Lieu
Occasionally, journeys may finish later than expected because of traffic, appointments, airport delays, family requirements or unforeseen circumstances.
Minor additional time will normally be balanced through time off in lieu, subject to operational requirements, the employment agreement and applicable law.
For example, an additional 30 minutes may normally be balanced by approximately 30 minutes of time off through a later start or earlier finish on the same or a subsequent working day.
Annual Leave and Bank Holidays
The annual leave entitlement is 28 paid days per holiday year in total, inclusive of statutory public and bank holidays.
Bank holidays are not additional paid days off.
This includes Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Easter bank holidays, May bank holidays, the August bank holiday and other statutory bank holidays.
There is no automatic contractual entitlement to take a bank holiday off.
Whether the chauffeur works on a particular bank holiday will depend on family requirements and the confirmed working schedule.
If a bank holiday is taken as paid leave on a day that would otherwise have been a normal working day, it may count towards the 28 day annual leave entitlement.
If the chauffeur works on a bank holiday, that day is not deducted from the annual leave balance.
Annual leave must be requested and approved in advance.
Because the household operates with multiple drivers, holiday dates must be coordinated so that sufficient driver coverage remains available.
Employees should wait until annual leave has been formally approved before making personal travel arrangements.
Professional Standards and Confidentiality
The chauffeur must maintain a calm, respectful, discreet and professional manner at all times.
The successful candidate must:
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
- Respect the privacy of family conversations and household matters
- Treat all information concerning the family, household, routines and locations as strictly confidential
- Communicate clearly and respectfully
- Be comfortable receiving reasonable instructions
- Remain cooperative when schedules or plans change
- Carry out normal duties without unnecessary supervision
- Raise genuine safety or legal concerns immediately and professionally
Traffic, Parking and Vehicle Responsibility
The chauffeur is responsible for driving safely and lawfully at all times.
The driver must:
- Follow UK road traffic law
- Observe road signs and restrictions
- Check parking and stopping restrictions
- Avoid prohibited roads and manoeuvres
- Take reasonable steps to prevent avoidable traffic and parking penalties
- Report any accident, incident, penalty or enforcement notice promptly
Where a traffic, parking or driving penalty results directly from the chauffeur’s own driving, parking, stopping, route choice or failure to observe a restriction, responsibility for that charge will be dealt with in accordance with the employment agreement and applicable law.
Daily Attendance
The chauffeur may be required to send a simple confirmation through the household’s designated communication group when starting and finishing work each day.
This is used as a record of daily working hours and should be completed consistently.
Vehicle and Minibus Experience
Candidates must be confident driving larger family vehicles.
Experience driving a manual minibus or larger passenger vehicle is preferred but not essential.
Candidates with D1 or D category entitlement should state this clearly in their application.
Any passenger vehicle driving will only take place where the driver holds the appropriate legal entitlement and satisfies applicable insurance requirements.
References and Pre Employment Checks
Shortlisted candidates may be asked to provide:
- DVLA check code
- Driving licence information
- Evidence of right to work in the United Kingdom
- Recent employer references that can be independently verified
- A written recommendation from a previous private household or chauffeur employer, if available
- Information reasonably required for household vehicle insurance approval
- Appropriate background checks where required for the role
A final employment offer will be subject to satisfactory right to work, reference and insurance checks.
