Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation and maintenance of industrial equipment and facilities. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership qualities, and excellent customer service skills to support our organisation’s operational efficiency and safety standards. The Maintenance Technician will play a vital role in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery, as well as supervising junior staff when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimise downtime.
- Diagnose faults using schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Repair or replace faulty components, including welding, electrical parts, or mechanical elements.
- Utilise programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to troubleshoot and modify automated systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals accurately.
- Conduct welding tasks as required to repair or fabricate parts.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations.
- Supervise junior technicians or apprentices, providing guidance and training where appropriate.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance work carried out for reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure minimal disruption to operations and provide excellent customer service.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in maintenance roles within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong electrical knowledge with the ability to work with schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is essential.
- Skilled in welding techniques and mechanical repairs.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical components, and general plant maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervising experience is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team under pressure while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
- Customer service orientation with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
