Smiths the Bakers Ltd is a long-established, family-run bakery business supplying wholesale customers within a 30-mile radius of King’s Lynn. With 50 years of trading history and over 30 years as Royal Warrant Holders, we take pride in producing high-quality bakery goods with consistency, care and traditional craftsmanship.
We are looking to appoint a highly experienced baker to join our small, skilled production team on a five-day working week, excluding Saturdays. The successful candidate will be involved in the preparation and production of dough products, pastry goods and confectionery items, helping to maintain the standards our customers have come to expect. Previous hands-on bakery experience is essential, and candidates should be confident working in a busy production environment.
The role will include agreed shifts working 5 days between Sundays to Fridays, with the possibility of additional hours to cover sickness, holidays and other operational requirements. Flexibility is therefore important, as the needs of the bakery may vary from week to week.
Applicants must be reliable, trustworthy, punctual and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit team. A strong work ethic, attention to detail and pride in producing quality bakery products are essential qualities for this position.
Previous experience working in a bakery is essential. Applicants should have practical experience as a baker, confectioner, or preferably both. Experience using deck ovens, preparing dough, hand-moulding products and working with pastry or confectionery would be particularly beneficial. This position is best suited to someone who already understands bakery production methods and can contribute confidently after initial familiarisation with our processes.
Basic training on our specific procedures and working practices will be provided, and the appointment will be subject to a three-month probationary period.
