About us
KeyPoint have been in operation since around late 2016 and offer exceptional key holding, relief caretaker and cleaning service to schools across the North East. We also provide long-term placements in schools, on rolling annual contracts.
We’re currently on the lookout for a reliable and flexible individual to join our team. The successful candidate will provide operational support across the North East region, predominantly Sunderland, Washington, Hetton & Houghton areas. Duties will include responding to alarm activations, attending emergency call-outs, undertaking key holding duties and carrying out school open and close services, whilst helping to maintain the safety and security of our clients' premises.
This is a zero hour position providing cover for school staff annual leave, sickness, emergency requirements and additional operational demand. Applicants should be flexible and available to work days, nights, weekends and bank holidays as required.
A monthly retainer fee will be paid for being a point of contact for responding to out of hours alarm activations and then each call out is paid in addition.

Experience
Applicants must have/be;
- Previous experience in a response or key holding role.
- Experience of working in a school environment (desirable).
- Experience working independently and making decisions in a lone-working environment.
- Resourceful and be able to use own initiative, without constant supervision.
- Attention to detail with exceptionally high standards of work.
- Experience responding to incidents and dealing with challenging situations.
- Experience completing reports and maintaining accurate records.
- Experience in providing a quality services to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Promotes and safeguards the welfare of children and young people.
- Demonstrates integrity and upholds values and principles.
Qualifications
- A valid SIA Security Officer License (or be eligible to apply for one).
- Full UK Driving License and access to own vehicle.
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and in order to satisfy safer recruitment to work in schools, a satisfactory Enhanced DBS is required as part of pre-employment checks. An online search will also be completed for all shortlisted candidates along with references, identity check, right to work and employment history check.
Responsibilities
Duties will include, but not limited to;
- Responding to alarm activations and emergency call-outs.
- Carry out key holding duties across our client schools.
- Open and secure school premises at agreed times.
- Undertake welfare checks and site inspections.
- Liaise professionally with customers, contractors, emergency services and members of the public.
- Maintain accurate records, reports and electronic logs.
- Conduct health and safety observations and report hazards.
- Ensure compliance with site instructions, company policies and client requirements.
- Represent KeyPoint professionally at all times.
- Undertake training and professional development as required.
