About The Role:
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Bookkeeper to support our team. The successful candidate will help maintain financial records, input transactional data into Xero and carry out monthly reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity in our accounting process. There will be a requirement to regularly liaise directly with our appointed accountants and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Input receipts, invoices, and expense data into Xero.
- Perform monthly bank and ledger reconciliations.
- Maintain organised physical and/or digital filing of financial documents.
- Provide assistance with financial reports and ad hoc bookkeeping tasks.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to clarify transaction details.
- Support month-end close activities as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience using Xero is essential.
- Good understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles (e.g. accruals, matching, double entry).
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
- Due to the 100% office-based nature of this role, candidates must reside within a commutable distance of Chester. Applicants must hold a valid, permanent right to work in the UK. Any applications outside of this will be disregarded.
Desirable
- Qualification in accounting (e.g. AAT).
- Experience working in small to medium enterprises or in financial services.
- Familiarity with financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet).
